Can I bring my family to my Alaska Glacier Wedding?

When Elizabeth and Mike started planning their Alaska glacier wedding, they debated whether or not they could invite their friends and family. They didn’t want a huge ceremony and party, but they did want to share the ceremony with their closest friends and family.

We actually get asked this a lot, and our answer is twofold.

  1. If you want to bring your family to the glacier, it is possible but it will cost more. You have to think about seats in a helicopter and shuttling back and forth to get everyone out there.
  2. You could also consider having your ceremony in a public location prior to flying to the glacier.

We actually love option 2! Depending on how many people you bring, it can be less stressful and easier on logistics. There are tons of beautiful fields, rocky shores, or mountain meadows we can suggest for an intimate ceremony prior to glacier landings.

This is what Elizabeth and Mike did. They had their ceremony in Moose Meadow, in the heart of Girdwood, Alaska. Then, we took a quick 5-minute drive to the airport to meet the helicopter company and our pilot. After that, as you can see in the photos, Monica (the photographer), the pilot, Elizabeth, and Mike explored the Chugach Mountains and glaciers for several hours, creating beautiful wedding photography they will cherish for a lifetime!
