On Friday, before I shot a Hatcher Pass wedding, I also shot Erica & Ken’s engagement photos. The sky was bright white with clouds, and the mountains were bright white with snow, so we had to hike up to the mine buildings for 20 minutes from the lower parking lot to get some contrast. The mine buildings are awesome though with their bright red trim and silver and white siding.. Lots of character. Speaking of, Erica and Ken were characters too.. getting into a snow fight (no snow balls, the snow was too loose..), followed by Ken pulling some wrestling moves on Erica including the often-feared head slam thing.. (edited: Erica says this is a pile-drive). They also brought out their dogs for a few shots at the very end. Here are the photos..!
On Wednesday I finally was able to meet up with Maddy and Cody to do their engagement session downtown. With all the recent bad weather, I think we rescheduled this shoot at least 4 times, waiting for nicer weather to roll in. I think it was well worth the wait as we had excellent lighting, and a great sunset at the end of the night..! We hopped around a bunch and there was even time for some outfit changes. A good shoot!
Today I met up with Gretchen & DJ for their Beluga Point engagement shoot. Ralph will be shooting their wedding with me, so he came along and joined in the fun. Beluga Point was actually DJ’s first pick for the marriage proposal site, but due to crazy weather it didn’t work out. Luckily, we fared much better today with lots of sunlight and calm winds. The Turnagain Arm is an epic backdrop for any shoot, and today was no exception. There’s a ton of different photo locations at Beluga Point and I am really excited to show you just some of our favorite shots. Keep your eyes peeled for their upcoming wedding blog, it’s going to be a good one!
I love shooting in downtown, especially around 4th Ave. So when George & Alisha picked Downtown for their engagement session, I was stoked! We started at the park strip and made our way through the streets and alleyways on some sweet vintage bikes. Cycling is part of this couples story so it was especially fun to include it as part of the shoot. We caught some beautiful light and most importantly, captured the fun personality of this cool couple. I can’t wait to shoot the wedding! Here’s a collection of my favorite shots from today’s shoot.
Here are some of my favorites from today’s (precipitation infused) shoot with Michelle & Joey! Despite the drizzle, this couple rocked it and we got some great photos. I really like the moody and dramatic look to some of these shots. One of the things I love about Alaska is that the weather keeps nobody down! I am looking forward their Moose Pass wedding this August. Should be a great time and I am crossing my fingers for some epic weather! Enjoy the photos.
