Today I went out to the Knik River Lodge to meet up with Jennifer and Michael who flew in for their destination wedding from Minnesota. The plan was to fly out in a helicopter and land above the Knik Glacier, but 60mph winds kept the heli grounded and left us to find a nice spot that we could walk to. Hunter Creek flows out of the mountains near the lodge, so we drove down there and walked out onto the flood plain. What a beautiful spot! Jennifer had high heels and no other footwear, so she ended up wearing my size 11 mens xtra-tuffs to get around the rocky terrain. Worked out nicely. Their helicopter pilot, Gene from Group 3 Aviation married them and did a great job with the ceremony. In a few days, after the weather clears, we’ll be meeting up again to do a helicopter-assisted photo-shoot around the Knik Valley. Should be fun! In the meantime, they’re on their way to an amazing Alaska adventure travelling all over the state and seeing the sights. Next stop, Cordova!
