We’re often contacted by photographers looking for internships, assistant jobs, and full-on shooting jobs. It’s always really difficult to sort through the online galleries, resumes and all that trying to figure out if someone is gonna be a match for us – we’ve got a ton of criteria that need to be met. It’s tough. One way to get to the top of the line is to perfectly ski some no-fall zone experts only terrain. Looking through Ralph’s portfolio it was established that this guy gets out there – and so instead of doing the standard job interview by sitting at a desk or coffee shop and discuss the philosophies of photography and human nature, we shredded the Gnarr (I don’t normally say things like that, but we really did this time! Honest!).. It was like one of those reality shows like survivor – if Ralph could survive the meat grinder of a chute/gully/couloir I picked out for him on False Peak, he’d get a chance to prove his might. Note the crazy change in weather we had during the afternoon. Started out with 40-50mph winds and clouds, and ended with an awesome sunset and no wind! So meet Ralph – he might be at your wedding this summer helpin out and putting in his apprentice time! We promise he’ll leave the helmet at home too.
