Flying the Chugach Peaks

So occasionally readers of this blog might find some non-wedding stuff posted. One of my favorite non-wedding subjects is Flying. You’ll probably see a fair amount of flying photos on here if you follow us for awhile. Besides photography, my other big obsession in life is airplanes. Fortunately I know a few other folks like this and we tend to gravitate towards each other and get out as much as we can. Today Mike and I got together to do an hour and a half loop around the ‘ol Chugach Peaks. I’ve flown so much within a 2 hour radius of Anchorage now that I’ve developed a bunch of routes depending on weather and winds. Today’s route was the classic Powerline Pass-Penguin Ridge-Girdwood-Eklutna Glacier-Bold Peak-Hunter Glacier-Lake George-Knik River-Anchorage Route. Total flying time 1.6hrs. There was no turbulence but we did have a moderate north wind pushing us around steadily. Heading out we had to crab about 45 degrees until we got higher.. a fun start to the day! Back to work..
