On Saturday I was at the Hotel Captain Cook for Sarah & Brent’s wedding. Their Reception was at the top floor of Tower 1 which has a beautiful view of downtown Anchorage. Waves of ice fog rolled in and out and made for a beautiful sight throughout the evening. Sarah and Brent were really laid back and easy going. It was a relatively small wedding with about 40-50 people so it was also very intimate. There were only 5 dinner tables which allowed me a lot of time to focus on getting a few really nice candids of each guest. Those are some of my favorite photos and I’ve been told by a lot of brides and groom’s they love them too. Despite the cold (and a bridesmaid from Phoenix), we were able to do all the wedding party photos outside and no one got frostbite. I’m always amazed at the willingness of our Alaska Brides to endure the various elements! When I first started shooting weddings in Michigan, many brides wouldn’t have even considered going outside if it was 10 degrees, or would refuse to get wet if it was raining lightly. Up here everyone just shrugs it off! Love it!
